SEC BASEBALL STOCK EXCHANGE WEEK 8

Week 8 saw a couple of shocking SEC series results. Here is our SEC Baseball stock exchange for week 8.

STOCK PRICE HIGH

FLORIDA- The Gators pulled off a home sweep of Ole Miss. That, coupled with Kentucky's stunning series loss to Georgia, has them firmly planted at the top of the East. They travel to suddenly red-hot Alabama this weekend.

KENTUCKY- Kentucky was rolling but hit a rough speed bump this weekend by losing a series to Georgia at home. It's not the end of the world, though, at least they didn't get swept like Auburn. The Cats get another home series this weekend, this time against Tennessee.

MISSISSIPPI STATE- The Bulldogs earned a tough series victory at Texas A&M. MSU lost the first game 9-2 but bounced back to win the next two. A trip to Georgia is next for the SEC West leading Bulldogs.

LSU- Similar to Mississippi State, LSU fell in its Friday game 3-2 to South Carolina but turned things around with two straight wins to take the series. The Tigers host suddenly reeling Auburn this weekend.

ARKANSAS- Arkansas split a rain shortened 2-game series at Tennessee. The Hogs dropped game one 5-4 but salvaged game two with a 2-0 shutout. They'll host Vandy this weekend.

AUBURN- Goodness, what has happened to the Tigers? They drop a 3-game series to last-place Alabama. This series along with the Kentucky-Georgia series results prove that you can't sleep on anyone in the SEC. Auburn gets a trip to LSU this weekend.

TEXAS A&M- The Aggies' 5-series SEC winning streak ended with a 2-1 series home loss to a very good Mississippi State club. A&M will finish out their SEC slate with a trip to Ole Miss this weekend and then host Arkansas for the final regular season series.

STOCK PRICE SO-SO

VANDERBILT- With back-to-back home series with Tennessee and Missouri, Vandy had a chance to gain some ground in the East. However, with a 3-2 combined series result (1 game canceled due to weather), the Commodores aren't much better off than they were two weeks ago. This weekend they travel to Arkansas to face a tough Hog squad.

SOUTH CAROLINA- Poor South Carolina. Riddled with key injuries, they've now lost six straight conference series. This weekend it was a 2-1 series loss to LSU. Like most of the lost series for the Gamecocks, the series featured a 1-run, extra-inning setback. The Gamecocks travel to Missouri this weekend.

OLE MISS- Ole Miss pulled off big series win a couple weeks ago at Arkansas. Good thing they did because Florida swept them recently. The Rebels host A&M this weekend and then travel to Auburn the final weekend.

MISSOURI- The Tigers dropped a series 2-1 at Vandy. They were able to escape with a win on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against VU's fine pitcher Kyle Wright. Mizzou gets South Carolina this weekend and then travels to Tennessee to finish the season. They need to win both those series and then make a run in the SEC-T to get consideration for the NCAA Tournament.

STOCK PRICE LOW

GEORGIA- Hats off to the young Bulldogs who pulled off a 2-1 series win at Kentucky. Who saw that coming? If Georgia can do the same to Mississippi State this weekend and then shock South Carolina the final weekend, they might slip into the SEC-T.

TENNESSEE- For the second series in a row, rain limited the series to just two games. UT split two games at Vandy last week and most recently split two with Arkansas. Coming away 2-2 in those two series is not bad. The Vols travel to Kentucky this weekend.

ALABAMA- Alabama sent shockwaves through college baseball with a 3-game sweep at nationally-ranked rival Auburn. In one weekend the Tide over doubled its conference win total. After a mostly miserable first seven SEC series it was a dream come true for Bama. Stuff like this is what makes sports fun. They get Florida and Vandy to finish the SEC slate.
